Another month has wandered off.
I’m wondering which way it went.
I hope wherever it landed was soft
if it knows how my time was spent.

The seventh month of another year
gets ready to make its swift escape.
I wonder if next month I must fear.
Might it be filled with jest and jape?

Each moment passes fast as thought
to place a pen on this paper to write.
Neither time nor tide sold or bought.
So, I think I’ll simply say goodnight
