Awoke to sad news about the actions of traitors
Senators whose votes abetted bigots and haters.
When they ignore the pleas of a grieving mother
Bilking American people to empower each other
How can we trust their actions, decisions again?

The truths of their lives are greed, power and sin.
Will millions of people choose to deny their eyes
Elect leaders whose actions they should despise?
Will they look back and claim they did not know,
While their eyes proclaim this is all just for show?

Time and the future will give us the answer when
We learn if there is any place remaining to begin;
Will we know freedom, hope, language and truth;
Let the jackboots of Ares claim the soul of youth?
Eyes open yet blind, history must leave us behind.
