Trippy, Too ~ Philip Brent Harris

Red is the color of my true love’s hair
although everyday she dyes it.
We’ve been stuck inside, sheltering.
She asks if I like it, at least a bit.

She says it helps her mirror’s face
when she wakes up feeling blue.
Orange you happy in your place
where it’s not happening to you?

She tells herself, Yellow, each morn
and I wonder what hair color today.
It makes me feel sad and forlorn.
I wish I was on the golfing green.

My mood’s not blue it’s indigo
And I can find no true color here
Except the one that is everywhere.
I’ll sit, watch the tube, drink beer.

The roses outside my door are red,
although the violets are not blue.
I’m vaccinated, upright, breathing;
I hope the same is claimed by you.
