People Over Politics, World Over Wealth!

Cliff Walk ~ Philip Brent Harris

A deep red river of tiny flowers
Meanders across a verdant green field.
Lush mustard blooms border its abstract banks.
Their bold yellow blossoms are interspersed
With wild radish in a pink, white, lavender
profusion with their singular attraction.
Smaller plants with deep purple and saffron
flowers, the light bright sour grass’ sunny shine.

I do not know all their names, will forget
to look them up online, or will and still
Not remember what they are called soon after.
Like all the living things and creatures seen
On our daily walks in many places.
Often, we have a view, the Pacific Ocean
as the waves crash in shifting colors.
Blue, green, aqua, teal and white foam spindrift.

On foggy days, as this one proved to be,
The water reflects as a steely gray.
We hear sounds of tumbling surf before
We see the beach’s sand, the evidence
Of any who have walked or played along
This amber strand, though no one can be seen.
Tomorrow we will visit another place.
Someplace new, or at least new for that day.
