People Over Politics, Survival Over Surrender, World Over Wealth!
Driving Home ~ Philip Brent Harris
Do we whisper we are too young, we are too old
as the moment our greatness flickers?
Can we not teach ourselves all this is folly?
In the long sleepless watches of the night,?
Will they write us down in history
with their bitter, twisted lies?
Then will we need to know where the sidewalk ends,
where a phenomenal woman’s secrets lie?
Will it matter if we take the road less traveled,
End this strange dream within a dream.
Will we be angry if we pray. Hopeless or
Will we languish out our days
politic, cautious, and meticulous?
Leave tracks full of warm blood leading
toward the dying of the light.
We do not carry our hearts within us
For want and hunger have hardened all this loveless land.
To what earth does this sweet cold belong?
In spite of war and death, of all sufferings,
New meaning cleaves to rage; watch it grow.
Eventful history; is all we see our wrath?
Angry with just a falling tear?
Feel sorrow’s share, so live both wise and simply.
Because we have not stopped
for death, it will surely stop for us;
oh yes, we thought it looked familiar.
Peace is Purpose, Nonviolence is Strength,
Diversity is Unity, Empathy is Empowerment
Unite the World!
