When, one day, we become but voices,
Remembered but by voices from the past,
We’ll have moved onward and outward.
Might we then finally understand at last?
Must we waft through the sky, as a cloud,
Stand silently like trees, recording days,
In seasons’ silent, learn not to be proud?
Might we be the storms, winds, and fires,
Seas, the surface to briny depths beneath,
Planets, comets, stars, vast space entire?
Oh, how, I wonder what we will bequeath.
