Spider, Spider ~ Philip Brent Harris

The spiderwebs clinging to the outside mirrors
On both sides of my car, expresses tenacity,
A right to life no less important than my own .
When I wash the webs away, the spiders stay.
It makes me think we must reframe our vision.
We need to realize that all human lives matter.
Red, yellow, black, brown and white, the same;
All dependent on our planet in order to survive.
It is not only this ball of dirt we call our home,
Nor what we take for our use, without thought,
It is also the animals, the fungi, the trees, all
Life, whether we exploit it or not, is essential.
