I think that I have shed at last
the mask I wore when young.
I’d thought to face me better,
though any who knew me saw
behind my façade of brilliance
and surety. Confident, that these
were always there, locked away
beneath a ruse. How then could
I find my sacred and only truth;
my soul lay hidden to my muse?
