The More We Give…?

Color in Motion ~ Philip Brent Harris
~~~~~
Where we both waited,
Lost in summer schemes,
We sat close, never knew,
Or noticed when our heart
Stood up and walked away.
We felt the rupture deeply,
Inside, a sudden sharp pain.
Knew something was gone.
We felt bereft and forlorn,
Half of who we had been.
Yet, I went on. Life lifted
Me up by my heart, like a
A lost puppet on a string.
Yet, I’m a marionette hero;
My quest to find true love.
Where will my search lead?
Buoyed by the knowledge
I have found in my heart.
Half-a-loaf nourishes me;
Half-a-glass quenches me.
We quest because we ken
That our lost half limits us.
Wed, we’ll find our source.
Our larder then never bare.
Our love ever-flowing joy.
And all we remain the same
If we share in ample bounty,
Marked by how we act, give,
Aware that the less we give,
Always is the less we have.
