All My Ducks in A Row ~ Philip Brent Harris

Rivers of ash, rivers of fire
leave the impression that
none of us matter. And we
don’t, but we do. I matter
to me. You matter to you.
I hope we matter, each to
the other. At least while in
our current venue. Rivers of
fire, rivers of air are found
here, there, most anywhere.

Rivers of matter, rivers of
space, rivers of time; it’s a
continuum. It is not a race.
Rush fast if you choose or
dawdle behind. Don a mask.
Wear your own face. Once
begun, seek peace of mind.
Life may be vomit or it may
be sunshine. At times you’ll
be upright, at others supine.

Whichever side of the roses
you rest will be the right pose.
Life is life, not merely a test.
Begin where you are. Open
your eyes. Believe what you
want, except your own lies.
We all tell them, yell them,
sell them, if only to ourselves.
Yet, some we don’t recognize.
Often, we don’t even surmise.

May be weakness from people
unknown. Ancestors or those
we have taken on loan. These
are the toughest to shed, like
some soused spouses we wed.
Stay where you are, shelter in
place. Step boldly into the life
you embrace. We contribute
as only we’re able. Be present,
be kind, and look until you find.

Diversity is Unity, Empathy is Empowerment

Peace is Purpose, Nonviolence is Strength,

Unite the World
