While We Linger?

People Over Politics, Survival Over Surrender, World Over Wealth!

A Rising Tide ~ Philip Brent Harris

~~~~~
The tapestry of life I see
is darker than I knew.
Indigo so deep it’s black
scattered with distant lights.
Stars or torches leading where?
Yet dawn will come in glory
reflecting red, orange and yellow.
Climbing the sky to white and blue
as we watch the day rush and mellow
with hints of night to come.
No more darkness, I hear you cry.
Would we rather perpetual twilight?
The fairies’ fabled feasts we’d find
felt to have fallen on a single afternoon
would leave us lost, bereft of hope.
When nothing changes nothing can.
Only dark and light revolving round
can be whole and realize all together.
In this darkness where we linger
look for a shimmering golden thread.
The gold reflects the coming light,
presages the glowing hours to ahead.
All who would clutch day or night
will watch them slip or fly away.
There is never only darkness or light.
